They Ate And Were Satisfied!

(Mark 8:1-8 ESV) 1 In those days, when again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat, he called his disciples to him and said to them, 2 “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. 3 And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away.” 4 And his disciples answered him, “How can one feed these people with bread here in this desolate place?” 5 And he asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.” 6 And he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd. 7 And they had a few small fish. And having blessed them, he said that these also should be set before them. 8 And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full.

August 7, 2016 was a banner day at the SpiritLife Church! From the very first song of worship, the preached word, the response at the altar as individuals moved by faith into a new season of victory, and the back-to-school anointing service on behalf of the children of the congregation. It was a very satisfying day!

The older I get and the more comfortable I am in my relationship with the Lord, the more satisfied I am with Him! Waking everyday to the realization that I am His child is one of the best blessings of life.

As I read this very familiar passage of Scripture, I was reminded of how compassionate Jesus was. A large crowd of people had followed him for three days. They were so excited to hear the powerful words he spoke that they didn’t even make provision for eating. Before sending them away, Jesus decided to feed them. You know the story… He took 7 loaves of bread and a few small fish, blessed them and distributed them to those who were hungry.

The next words excited my soul! “They ate and were satisfied!” The word satisfied means, “contented; pleased–meet the expectations, needs, or desires of someone.” At a time when these people could have been tired, exhausted, and dreading their return trip home–they were completely satisfied with the time spent in the presence of Jesus.

Today, regardless of the things that could sap your energy; regardless of the schedule looming before you… enjoy your relationship with Jesus! Celebrate who He is! Think about His goodness. And as you focus your thoughts on Him, you will discover a deep and abiding sense of satisfaction!

PRAYER: Jesus, I’m completely and totally satisfied with you. You have blessed me so abundantly and I’m forever grateful for Your great love! Amen.
