Reversing The Irreversible!

Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me? ~ Jeremiah 32:27 ESV

Have you ever faced a situation that appeared to be irreversible? You know, it seemed impossible…hopeless. Have you ever prayed…and sought God about a matter, only to find your faith wavering about the expected outcome? I have! In fact, I have been there recently…and to be totally honest, can find myself there on any given day if I allow myself to go there.

Scripture is full of examples of people who faced what were seemingly irreversible circumstances. Think about the lame man…sitting by the pool side…waiting for the waters to move so that he could receive his healing. He sat there…waiting for years…but, could never get into the water first because he had no one to help him.

Think about the lady with the issue of blood…Scripture tells us that she had been to many doctors and had spent all of her money trying to find a cure for her disease. No hope! Irreversible!

Consider Jairus who had asked Jesus to heal his daughter of her sickness. When they came from his household the message was one of utter hopelessness. Your daughter is dead, bother the Master no longer. She was irreversibly dead! Or was she? Had the final word been spoken?

These stories illustrate different challenges. Yet, they are remarkably the same. From the human viewpoint there was no hope! Nothing could change because the results were irreversible! Right? From the human point of view–yes. But, factor in Jesus and suddenly the irreversible becomes reversible! Hope springs up in the face of hopelessness. Life replaces death! Light disperses the darkness! Victory chases defeat!

Just when Jairus thought his daughters’ situation was irreversible…Jesus declares, “Don’t give in to unbelief, and don’t be overcome by fear!” The final chapter has not yet been written regardless of what the visible suggests! “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” Believe what you cannot see! Grasp what is intangible! Believe…that what appears to be irreversible can be reversed by one touch of the Master’s hand!

PRAYER: Today…I will believe, and trust, and hope that what appears to be irreversible…will be reversed for the glory of God! Amen.
