I have always loved this story from the gospel of Mark. It is short and to the point, and yet it marks a huge turning point in Bartimaeus’ life. Isn’t it funny how something so huge and life-altering can happen so quickly, almost before we even realize what’s happening.
There were multiple distractions and opportunities for Abraham to turn aside from the plan of God, to decide he had gone far enough, but Abraham stayed focused on the journey. No matter how many pit stops he had to make along the way, nothing was going to prevent him from seeing the promises of God fulfilled.
However…the true nature of our hearts are often revealed whether we want them to be or not. They're in the conversations that we hold, in our reactions to others, and in our general attitudes toward the rest of the world.
God does use our situations to test our faith at times so we can grow, but he’s not up there entertaining Himself by our struggles.
MERE WORDS, when backed by faith-filled prayer IS strategy AND power for war.
