Sunday @SpiritLife | Reasons Why I Love My Church | 02.15.26

1. I Love My Church Because Christ Loves the Church

Ephesians 5:25 (ESV)
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

Acts 20:28 (ESV)
“…to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.”

• The church is blood-bought — it carries eternal value.
• To honor Christ fully, I must honor what He died for.
• My love for the church reflects my understanding of the cross.

2. I Love My Church Because It Is God’s Design

Matthew 16:18 (ESV)
“…I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Acts 2:42 (ESV)
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

• The church is Christ-initiated, not human-invented.
• The church stands against spiritual opposition.
• The church is structured around Word, fellowship, worship, and prayer.

3. I Love My Church Because It Helps Me Grow

Ephesians 4:15–16 (ESV)
“…speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ… makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”

Colossians 1:28 (ESV)
“Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.”

• Growth happens through truth spoken in love.
• Maturity is the goal, not mere attendance.
• Every believer contributes to corporate growth.

4. I Love My Church Because It Carries My Burdens

Galatians 6:2 (ESV)
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

Romans 12:15 (ESV)
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”

• The church provides shared strength in weak seasons.
• Emotional and spiritual solidarity are biblical mandates.
• Isolation weakens faith; shared life strengthens it.

5. I Love My Church Because It Strengthens My Family

Psalm 92:13 (ESV)
“They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God.”

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (ESV)
“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children…”

• Spiritual planting produces long-term flourishing.
• The church reinforces biblical values in the next generation.
• Faith becomes visible, modeled, and normalized.

6. I Love My Church Because It Gives Me Purpose

1 Peter 4:10 (ESV)
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

1 Corinthians 12:7 (ESV)
“To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

• Every believer is gifted intentionally.
• Gifts are meant for contribution, not self-expression alone.
• The church activates dormant calling.

7. I Love My Church Because It Prepares Me for Eternity

Hebrews 10:24–25 (ESV)
“…not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

Philippians 3:20 (ESV)
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

• The church keeps eternity in view.
• Corporate worship fuels perseverance.
• The gathered body anticipates Christ’s return.
