Sunday @SpiritLife | Reasons Why I Love My Church | 02.15.26
1. I Love My Church Because Christ Loves the Church
Ephesians 5:25 (ESV) “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
Acts 20:28 (ESV) “…to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.”
• The church is blood-bought — it carries eternal value.
• To honor Christ fully, I must honor what He died for.
• My love for the church reflects my understanding of the cross.
2. I Love My Church Because It Is God’s Design
Matthew 16:18 (ESV) “…I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Acts 2:42 (ESV) “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
• The church is Christ-initiated, not human-invented.
• The church stands against spiritual opposition.
• The church is structured around Word, fellowship, worship, and prayer.
3. I Love My Church Because It Helps Me Grow
Ephesians 4:15–16 (ESV) “…speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ… makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
Colossians 1:28 (ESV) “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.”
• Growth happens through truth spoken in love.
• Maturity is the goal, not mere attendance.
• Every believer contributes to corporate growth.
4. I Love My Church Because It Carries My Burdens
Galatians 6:2 (ESV) “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Romans 12:15 (ESV) “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”
• The church provides shared strength in weak seasons.
• Emotional and spiritual solidarity are biblical mandates.
• Isolation weakens faith; shared life strengthens it.
5. I Love My Church Because It Strengthens My Family
Psalm 92:13 (ESV) “They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God.”
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (ESV) “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children…”
