Living By Faith

Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

This verse reminds us that faith is not based on tangible evidence or physical proof, but rather on trust and belief in the promises of God. It encourages us to have confidence in the things we hope for and to find assurance in the unseen.

In our journey through life, we often encounter countless obstacles and uncertainties that can shake our faith. But it is during these challenging moments that we must remind ourselves of the importance of walking by faith. This steadfast belief in the unseen helps us navigate through the trials, find meaning in our experiences, and ultimately grow closer to God. Consider these three suggestions for living by faith.

1. Seek God’s Guidance:

Walking by faith begins with seeking God’s guidance in every decision, big or small. As Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Just as a lamp provides illumination in the darkness, God’s word illuminates our path in life. By immersing ourselves in Scripture, seeking His wisdom through prayer, and listening to His still small voice, we can discern the right path to take.

2. Let go of Control:

Walking by faith requires letting go of our desire for control and surrendering to God’s will. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

It can be challenging to release the reins of our lives, but trusting in God's plan allows for His divine intervention and blessings. #Virtualamen

Think of the story of Joseph. When Joseph was sold as a slave and unjustly imprisoned, he could have lost faith. However, he chose to trust in God’s sovereignty and remained steadfast in his faith. Eventually, Joseph was elevated to a position of power, playing a pivotal role in the salvation of his family and many others.

3. Embrace Challenges as Opportunities for Growth:

Walking by faith means viewing challenges as opportunities for personal growth and spiritual development. James 1:2-4 reminds us, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Cultivating a positive mindset amidst difficulties allows us to see God at work, molding us into better versions of ourselves.

Consider the story of Job. Despite experiencing immense suffering and loss, Job held onto his faith in God’s goodness. Through his trials, Job gained a deeper understanding of God’s sovereignty and experienced restoration beyond what he could have imagined.

Walking by faith each day is a continuous journey where we seek God’s guidance, let go of control, embrace challenges, and experience God’s faithfulness. This encourages us to live a life rooted in faith, trusting in God’s plans, and finding hope in the unseen.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we conclude this time of reflection and meditation, we are reminded of the power and beauty of faith. We thank You for the assurance and confidence that faith brings, even in the midst of uncertainty.

As we go forth from this moment, may we continue to seek Your guidance, trusting in Your wisdom and direction. Help us to surrender control and trust in Your perfect plan for our lives. And in the midst of challenges, may we embrace them as opportunities for growth, knowing that You are with us every step of the way.

We humbly ask for Your continued presence and strength as we walk by faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
